2013 Aramco Overseas Company Diary

Saudi Arabia Through the Ages: Exploring the Heritage Sites of the Kingdom

Creating a chic design-led diary that explores key heritage sites in Saudi Arabia.

With polished design and elegant typography, the 2013 Filofax-style diary showcased the heritage sites of the kingdom with fourteen inserts that divided the daily Georgian and Hijiri calendar’s pages. The foldout inserts, printed on texture parchment-like paper, gracefully combined text and images showing sites such as Mada’in Saleh and the Oasis of al-’Ula and Tarut Island.

Inspiral Design devised the diary’s theme and designed, art directed and produced the project from start to finish. With a team of specialists – a researcher, writer, proofreader, cartographer and picture researcher – the leather-bound diary brought together a huge amount of information and combined pictures of the sites, archaeological findings and hand-rendered maps drawn by a commissioned cartographer. It also featured exquisite bespoke pattern designs based on similar motifs found on the buildings in the region.

Saudi Arabia Through the Ages: Exploring the Heritage Sites of the Kingdom was presented to senior management at the company in a sophisticated gift box with a magnetic clasp and matching silk ribbon pull cord.
